Without Brown, it is impossible to know what would have happened in Montgomery during the boycott. The boycott would have been difficult to continue because the city would have won its challenge to shut down the car pool.
On December 20, , the Supreme Court upheld a lower court decision that stated it was unconstitutional to discriminate on public transit.
